Azerrad's book "Our Band Could Be Your Life" (http://ping.fm/Mgzip) and the documentary "Towncraft," on Little Rock's self-made punk scene (Hulu), give the lie to anybody who says "it'll never happen here."

Maybe I'm missing something about "here"-ness or "it"-ness, but as someone deeply involved with the mid-late-90s TX panhandle punk scene, the one show our band played in Little Rock made the city's punk scene seem very similar to my experiences in Lubbock and Amarillo.

Haven't seen the doco, though, so I might be misunderstanding the "it'll never happen here", as my initial response is that "it" did (and continues to) happen "here".
